I’m not going to pontificate about the New Year and how much it means to us to turn the corner from a very tough year. Nope. Not going to do that. I’m also not going to ruminate aloud about the emotions that we weathered as a country, world, or simply as human beings. Enough people have that covered, you don’t need my advice on what we’ve survived. I also can’t, and won’t, go down the path of all the people we’ve lost in our lives, because 2021 was particularly brutal in that regard for many of us. No words I can say will ever change those facts.
What I can and will say, is we are here on the verge of a brand new year, ready to face whatever comes our way. We have a choice to face it with strength and conviction, or we can hunker down in our fear and hide from it. I believe we are stronger than fear, and wise enough to know what we have to do to not only survive this new year, but thrive in it. We have the ability to look at the challenges and face them intellectually and physically as warriors. We are survivors who know what we need to do to get through this year and the next, with dignity and grace. The power is within each and every one of us.
Happy New Year, my friends. May 2022 be a kinder, gentler year for all of us to heal and recover. We can do this.
